Study Programmes
Study Programmes are the first step for school leavers, aged 16-19 years. Over 12 months, you’ll study for a vocational (practical) qualification and gain some work experience. You’ll also build on your employability skills and achieve the level of maths and English that employers look for.
Childcare Training Academy
The Childcare Training Academy is a fully-funded 6-month course for 16-18 year olds and is the perfect foundation to help get you started in a successful career working with children and contributing to their development.
You will gain the basic knowledge and the skills needed to care for young children and will learn about their growth, learning and development and well as hands-on experience through exciting work placements.
Qualifications:
- Level 2 Certificate Introducing Caring for Children and Young People
- Up to Level 2 Maths and English
Pre-apprenticeships
Pre-apprenticeships are a way for 16-24-year olds to develop first-hand experience of the workplace with a 6-month pre-apprenticeship (sometimes called an internship).
We work with employers in many sectors, like: Regent Hotels, British Heart Foundation, Cavendish House Nursey and Dexel Tyre & Auto Centres. We reach out to employers for you to make sure we line up work experience in your area of interest.
We partner with large and small employers from all across the North East to give you access to the best training opportunities after you leave school.
Getting work experience is one of the best ways of signalling to an employer that you’re ready for work.
Apprenticeships
If you already have some relevant work experience, and a strong level of maths and English too, you may feel ready to go straight for an apprenticeship. Anyone between the ages of 16-65 can apply to become an apprentice.
