Our new Housing and Property Management Apprenticeships

A new partnership with the CIH takes our Housing and Property Management Apprenticeships to the next level
12 January 2018

We at YMCA Training are proud to announce a new partnership with the Charted Institute for Housing (CIH) for Housing and Property management apprenticeship delivery.

Through close collaboration, we have embedded a variety of the CIH’s qualifications into our new Housing and Property Management apprenticeship courses, therefore reducing the need for further bolt-on training post-graduation and ensuring our graduates are the most capable in the sector.

This partnership has been launched in response to the creation of the new Housing and Property Management apprenticeship standard, which has the capacity to be transformative for the sector. Not only are Housing and Property Management apprenticeships now available to both social and private housing management teams, but the embedded flexibility of the standard allows training providers to create tailored training packages that meet both individual and businesses specific needs.

Our Housing and Property Management apprenticeship courses will launch from April 2018, with our Level 2 Housing/Property Management Assistant Apprenticeships available from as little as £25 per month; and level 3 Housing/Property Management Officer and Level 4 Senior Housing/Property Manager courses available from just £37.50 per month.

If you are interested in our new Housing and Property Management apprenticeships, please contact YMCA Training’s Business Development Executive, Sallyann Smith at Sallyann.smith@ymca.co.uk or call 07341072519.

How can Housing and Property Management work for you?

Most housing and property management roles are customer facing and include being responsible for the creation and sustainment of successful tenancies in the private and social rented housing sectors.

Our apprenticeships are therefore designed to enhance technical knowledge across a broad range of housing practices, including policy, law and professional practice, and include the capability for us to tailor bespoke programmes that cater for either individual or business specific needs.

The CIH will also be conducting End Point Assessment and accreditation for us and we will therefore now be able to offer officially recognised qualifications.

Housing and property management apprenticeships usually last between 18-24 months and provide a natural progression into the following roles:

  • Generic or specialist Housing Officer or Neighbourhood Officer (for example for anti-social behaviour, resident involvement, tenancy sustainment, homelessness, repairs and sheltered housing)
  • Neighbourhood Co-ordinator / Advisor
  • Lettings Officer / Allocations Officer / Tenancy Officer / Income Management Officer
  • Leasehold Management Officer
  • Private Sector Housing Officer
  • Strategic Housing Officer
  • Property Manager
  • Negotiator/Senior Negotiator

Entry requirements: Employers will identify any relevant entry requirements through selection. Apprentices without Level 2 English and maths will need to achieve this level prior to completion of their Apprenticeship.

Professional Body Alignment and progression: On completion of the apprenticeship, apprentices will be able to join the following:

  • Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH) at Member level.
  • Association of Residential Letting Agents (ARLA) at Associate Level.
  • Institute of Residential Property Management (IRPM) at Associate Level.
